FOR Emerging Leader Program: Terms of Participation

Participant Eligibility

Participants entering the Emerging Leaders program should meet the following criteria:

  • Have at least 1-2 years of full-time work experience post-graduation in a relevant clinical area (i.e. oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery, periodontics, general dentistry, prosthodontics, orthodontics)
  • Have expertise in surgical and/or prosthodontic treatments in oral rehabilitation
  • Be currently practicing as a clinician (GP or other specialties) in either North America or Europe

Application 

Applicants to the program must submit an online application to the program no later than the specified deadline. The following materials must be included with the application:

  • The application form with your personal contact details and answers to a range of questions related to your experience and interest in the program
  • A letter of recommendation from a clinical or academic leader in your field
  • Curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
  • A video lecture of yourself delivering a lecture on a topic relevant to oral rehabilitation. The video may be of an on-line or on-stage oral presentation. If you do not have a video available, you may record one of your lectures as an on-line presentation (see instructions on the web page)
  • The clinical case presentation in PDF format that was presented in the abovementioned video lecture

Program Participation Requirements

In order to successfully graduate from this program, selected participants agree to honor the time commitment, attendance expectations, and program activities as set out in the program curriculum for the whole duration of the program, which is 2 years. These commitments include:

  • The participant commits to at least 15-18 days / year of preparation and participation in program activities as agreed upon in advance and explained in the program curriculum
  • The participant commits to participate in 2 clinical residencies at a center in North America or Europe
  • The participant agrees to travel approximately 2-3 times per year to selected program meetings
  • Publish at least 1 article on FOR.org
  • The participant agrees to provide lectures at selected FOR program events (congresses, symposia, round-tables, workshops, etc.) and participate in selected FOR projects in their area of interest
  • For the duration of the program and after its successful completion, and with prior mutual agreement, the participant agrees to foster and participate in selected FOR projects in their area of interest. The participant agrees to provide lectures at selected program events (congresses, symposia, round-tables, workshops, etc.)
  • For the duration of the program, the participant agrees that FOR can use their photographs, videos, and any other material they develop to be presented in selected program meetings, social media channels, newsletters, and any other type of program promotion. FOR is also authorized to publish participants lectures delivered by the participant in selected program events on the FOR.org platform
  • The participant agrees to comply with FOR values and common ethical standards that applies to their profession and will act as program "ambassadors" during the program
  • Participants acknowledge and accept the fact that they cannot claim honorarium for the presentation of their clinical data or any material they developed that will be presented, published, or promoted during the program

Program Costs

  • Expenses covered by FOR: the costs for the program workshops, and fees for the clinical residency centers are covered

  • Expenses that participants will have to cover: Participants are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation, and meal expenses when participating in workshops, meetings, as well as during the 2 clinical residencies. Participants cannot claim speaker's fees or any other type of compensation for any ELP events in which they are presenting during the duration of the program

Program Withdrawal

  • Since the participants do not have to pay program fees and FOR covers a significant part of the program costs, the participant must inform the FOR office as soon as possible in the case of withdrawal from the program.
