The lecture discusses the possibilities and advantages when using innovative digital concepts for diagnostics, treatment and surgery planning. At the beginning digital diagnostic tools helped to find available bone, today they assist in prosthetic and esthetic driven treatment planning. Dr Salvesen highlights the difference between survival and success of an implant and that digital planning tools are an important contributor to predictability of success. The lecture reviews the planning and treatment workflow with such systems and emphasizes that digital concepts support interdisciplinary team communication and should be comprehensive systems, reliable, flexible and user friendly.
