Joe Massad - How to take a mandibular cameo surface impression?

In this video Dr. Massad demonstrates the proper technique for capturing a cameo surface impression of a mandibular denture. The surface impression is done at the esthetic wax try-in allowing any needed modifications to be made prior to processing of the denture.   Impression material is placed on the lingual cameo surface of the denture, placed in the patient’s mouth and functionally molded through repeated swallowing and side-to-side movements of the tongue.  Impression material is then added to the buccal cameo surface of the denture and the patient is instructed to repeatedly smile and pucker their lips. This allows material to be added or removed as needed to fabricate a denture that stays within the physiologic boundaries of the patient.  Using this technique allows the formation of an ideal cameo denture surface, improving your dentures support and patients’ phonetics.  This simple technique can significantly improve the quality of your dentures.
