Joe Massad - How to take a maxillary cameo surface impression?
- Clinical technique for maxillary cameo surface impression
In this video Dr. Massad demonstrates the proper technique for capturing a cameo surface impression of a maxillary denture. The surface impression is done at the esthetic wax try-in allowing any needed modifications to be made prior to processing of the denture. Impression material is placed on the buccal cameo surface of the denture, placed in the patients’ mouth and functionally molded through repeated mandibular movements, smiling and puckering of patient’s lips. Additionally, impression material is added to the palatal surface of the denture and the patient is instructed to repeatedly swallow and count from 60 to 69. This allows material to be added or removed as needed to fabricate a denture that stays within the physiologic boundaries of the patient. Using this technique allows the formation of an ideal cameo denture surface, improving your dentures support and patients’ phonetics. This simple technique can significantly improve the quality of your dentures.
