Massimo Simion: Partially edentulous maxilla classification Applegate-Kennedy I-II
- Rehabilitation options for posterior multiple missing teeth
- Short implants or vertical ridge augmentation
- Review of vertical bone augmentation technique and bone growth factors
- New York 2013 Symposium presentation
The lecture presents options how to rehabilitate the posterior maxilla and mandible in complex situations and discusses the use of short implants and vertical bone augmentation options. If possible, short implants are a preferred and less invasive option, however for anatomical or esthetic reasons a vertical bone augmentation may be required. Dr Simion reviews techniques of vertical bone augmentation for challenging indications, and discusses in the advantages, better and faster healing and bone formation, when using bone growth factors like platelet derived growth factor (pdgf) or bone morphogenetic protein (bmp2). The regenerated bone is able to support the implants for a long period of time.
