The lecture discusses the advantages of CAD/CAM technology in comparison to previous cast procedures. With cast and soldering procedures it is almost impossible to achieve a perfect passive fit. P Rutten highlights especially CAD/CAM technology providing consistent and exceptional precision of fit, predictable results, significant time savings both in the laboratory and in the clinic, biocompatibility of typical CAD/CAM materials such as Titanium and Zirconia and reduced cost. CAD/CAM solutions can be used in various prosthetic construction types such as e.g. fixed solutions with Titanium plus acrylic teeth or ceramic veneered Zirconia bases, and fixed-removable overdenture solutions with a milled overdenture bar.
